Marriott CEO Predicts Good News for Hotels

By JIFUlife No Comments

Original Article Published by CNBC and Kevin Stankiewicz

Marriott International CEO Tony Capuano told CNBC on Monday the distinction between business and leisure travel is fading, a welcome development for the hotel operator as it recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.

People going on vacations and other personal trips has led the hospitality industry’s rebound from the Covid-induced damage that hit more than a year ago. The return of trips for corporate purposes is crucial for a complete comeback, though, and there have been questions about how long it will take for that to return to pre-pandemic levels — if ever.

“We do think you’ll see a steady return of business,” Capuano said in an interview on “Squawk on the Street,” noting that, in mainland China, business-travel demand in March was 5% above where it was in March 2019. China’s economic recovery timeline is generally thought to be several months ahead of the U.S.

However, Capuano said Marriott could benefit from a broader shift in the way corporate travel is viewed after the pandemic, when many white-collar employees are expected to have greater flexibility around going into the office following the necessary embrace of remote work due to Covid.

As more people return to the office, business travel will pick up, Capuano said. “The thing that will be interesting to watch, I think it’s going to be less clear what the trip purpose is,” he said.

“Increasingly we’re seeing folks that say, ‘I can blend trip purposes. I can combine leisure with business travel.’ And we think that’s really good news for our hotels across the country,” said Capuano, who has led Marriott since February. He took over for the late Arne Sorenson.

Capuano’s comments Monday came shortly after the Maryland-based company reported first-quarter financial results. Marriott’s adjusted earnings per share of 10 cents topped consensus estimates of 4 cents, according to FactSet, while quarterly revenue of $2.32 billion was below projections of $2.38 billion.

Marriott shares fell by more than 3% Monday to trade around $142 apiece. The stock is up about 7% year to date.

5 Tastiest Summer Snacks

By JIFU Success, JIFUlife No Comments

Here at JIFU, we are excited for all the adventures that summer brings. Keeping this in mind, it is important to stay energized and healthy, no matter where your exploration takes you. We have compiled some of our favorite snacks for the days to come! Let us know if you have any suggestions for the community in the comments.

Garden Salsa

There is nothing like fresh vegetables to kick off your summer the right way. Combine all your favorites: tomatoes, jalapenos, onion, cilantro, and whatever else suits your fancy to create the perfect salsa. Serve with your favorite chips as a precursor to your dinner. This salsa also doubles as a fresh and healthy snack for those beautiful summer evenings.

Fresh Fruit

Summer and fresh fruit go hand and hand. Stock up and add the pre-cut fruit to containers that can be taken out when the moment is right. Some of our tried-and-true favorites include strawberries, kiwis, and watermelon. These can be great additions to any drink and can help spice up the main dish with ease.

Smoothies

An easy follow-up to raw fruit is, of course, smoothies. This can be a great way to get your daily fruits and veggies. Including some leafy greens, like spinach and kale, will add nutrients to your smoothie in an easy-to-consume way. Plus, they can be fun to make with kids and friends on a hot summer day!

Trail-Mix

The best thing about making your own granola is that you can add whatever you want to it! If you are not happy with the regular nuts, raisins, and M&M’s, feel free to get creative! Add some marshmallows, animal cracks, or pretzels. Throw some in a plastic bag for a hike, or add some to your arsenal of pantry snacks.

Recession Proof: Fact or Ficition

By JIFU Success, JIFUlife No Comments

We’ve all heard mutterings of industries that are “recession-proof”, but is it just a rumor with no merit? Let’s explore the industries and markets that have been able to thrive through historically difficult economies.

Essential Industries (Investopedia)

Food + Grocery

While this is a huge industry, grocers are a necessary part of our society. As we saw in 2020, stores were protected and even required to stay open. According to Investopedia: “Besides discount stores like Dollar Tree and Walmart, which are major grocers, several other companies that make or sell food also made the list. They include packaged food company General Mills, Inc., grocery store chain Kroger Co. (KR), and also restaurant chains McDonald’s Corp.”

Freight

As the market continues to become more internationalized, freight and logistics increase in importance. A few corporations that saw positive returns during the 2008 recession include:
Old Dominion Freight
Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies
C.H. Robinson Worldwide

An industry being recession-proof is not black or white and relies on the grey area that lies in the context of the economy of the time. If you are interested in seeing which industries and companies sustained growth in the 2020 pandemic, click the button below.

Self Reflection Tips

By JIFUlife, Personal Development No Comments

As we near the end of 2020, it’s important to look back and consider the past year’s accomplishments. A massive part of that is integrating self reflection into your end-of-the-year rituals. At the beginning of any year, JIFU urges our members and affiliates to visualize their success and the fruition of their goal accomplishments throughout the coming months, and this year was no exception.

Wired for Greatness is a handbook written by JIFU’s co-founder Jeffery Boyle, in which he offers advice on how to live a more epic life. Module four is dedicated to manifesting your ultimate desires with visualization, and we refer back to this text often. Self reflection is all about taking account of the results of your actions. Whether in business or personal life, taking the time to reflect is not only healthy, but can aid you in changing the way you approach new opportunities. Here are some valuable questions that can assist in any self reflection practice.

What Were My Goals?

Think back to previous goals you have set for yourself. Were you able to achieve them to your own standard? Consider every goal, even ones that you no longer wish to work towards. Failed projects, pivoted plans, and otherwise unsuccessful endeavors are also an important part of self reflections.

What Changed?

Even the most perfectly laid plans go awry, and you can glean valuable lessons from what went wrong. Ask yourself what change occurred that may have affected your actions and execution. That way, you will be more prepared when the same curve ball is thrown at you and your team.

What is Outside of my Control?

Oftentimes, factors outside of your control force a change of direction. The only thing you can do when this happens is ensure that your reactions appropriately shift. This is true in business and in everyday personal life, and you can learn a lot from your reaction to outside influences.

What Could I Have Controlled?

On the other hand, we have more control over situations than we realize. Ask yourself what steps you took to achieve a goal so that you can replicate the process in the future. Similarly, thinking back to times when things didn’t go as planned can offer valuable insight into what to avoid in the future.

These are only a few questions that can help you get started with your end of the year self reflection. Let us know other questions and actions you can take to successfully wrap up your 2020 and move forward into a more successful new year.

Personal Branding in Affiliate Marketing

By JIFU Success, JIFUlife, Personal Development No Comments

As network marketers, we strive every day to share quality products and services that offer outstanding value to our customers and members. JIFU affiliates are the lifeblood of our company, and a massive part of what makes our business model so special.

The individuals who we work with know how to not only market JIFU’s services, but are skilled in marketing themselves. There are five basic reasons why it is vastly important to build a successful personal brand in network marketing. These are helpful tips for someone who is just getting into affiliate marketing and they are great reminders for seasoned veterans.

1.Credibility

When you establish yourself using your social media platforms, a website, or in person, you are able simultaneously establish yourself as reliable, trustworthy, and knowledgeable about the company you are representing.

Part of this is making sure you know answers to potential questions that clients or buyers may have, as well as having a good understanding of the company you are partnering with. It is also important to have a good rapport with corporate management, so as to become more aware of the company culture.

2. Uniqueness

While it is important to represent the partner company accurately and correctly, it is as equally as important to add in your own unique marketing flavor. You are probably not the only affiliate that is trying to sell the products and services, so making yourself stand out is imperative.

Oftentimes, loyal customers come back time and time again not only because of the products, but because of the connection they feel with the salesman/affiliate. Being able to achieve a perfect balance between the company’s brand and your own personal brand is where you will find immense success. For example, JIFU offers brand assets for our affiliate partners to use on their social medias, but it is up to the affiliates themselves to use those tools in a way that will make them stand out from the masses.

3. Become a Leader

As an affiliate marketer, you understand the value of selling products, but it is valuable to “sell” yourself as well. Build your personal brand on the foundation of leadership and knowledge, and you will establish an environment where buyers and members feel comfortable asking you questions. This will lead to a more committed customer base.

Some things to consider when you are building your personal brand include consistency, professionalism, and coordination. These things will help you construct your online presence in a manner that sets you apart from less dedicated and experienced affiliates.

4. Know your Audience

Be aware that your personal brand attributes to who your audience is, so it is important that you are consciously working towards a specific audience. Despite that you are not the only affiliate, you are the only YOU, so use that to your advantage. Different affiliates can attract vastly different audiences, so don’t get lulled into a false sense of boredom.

5. Strive to Reach a Goal

We have talked about setting and achieving goals before, but a massive part of that is allowing your personal brand to set you up for success. Each affiliate has their own personal goals when it comes to their business, so you need to evaluate your plan based on what you hope to achieve.

You may want to become a top earner who makes more money than any affiliate before them. In which case, you would want to set aside a lot of time to speak with professionals, work with your team, and take your position in the business world very seriously. On the other hand, you may want to earn some extra income on the side, but affiliate marketing is not your main priority. In this scenario, you may not become comparatively successful, but your workload would decrease significantly.

These are only five of the best tips that we have to offer when it comes to establishing and creating a personal brand. There are many more ways to do this, and JIFU.com offers the tools you need to become successful. Check out the website if you are interested in learning more about our affiliate program!

Worldly Warm Winter Drinks

By JIFUlife, Travel Motivation 42 Comments

As the weather darkens and the northern hemisphere angles itself away from the sun, we turn to warm, and comforting drinks. Here at JIFU, we know that exploring the world broadens our horizons and enriches our lives. However, sometimes a trip is not an option, so we have decided to gather a list of warm beverages from around the world.

The Netherlands: Anijsmelk

Our first stop is in the gorgeous Netherlands, where they are no stranger to cold winters. If anyone knows how to stay warm in a delicious way, it’s the Dutch. Traditionally, the drink is made to keep ice skaters warm. One only needs three ingredients to make anijsmelk.

Recipe

  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon anise seed
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  1. Combine the milk & anise seeds in a saucepan.
  2. Place over a low-medium heat; allow the milk to come to a low simmer.
  3. Add honey, and keep it simmering for 5-10 more minutes.
  4. Remove saucepan from heat.
  5. Pour the warmed milk through a fine mesh strainer to remove the anise seeds.
  6. Serve warm

Matcha: Japan

Matcha is probably one the more popular warm drinks from Japan. Though it has similar origins in China, there are two specific regions that are known for their matcha; Uji in Kyoto and Nishio in the Aichi prefecture. The drink traditionally has spiritual and ceremonial ties, but is also enjoyed for its earthy flavor and antioxidants.

Recipe

  • ¼ teaspoon matcha
  • 2 ounces boiling water
  • 6 ounces additional boiling water or steamed milk
  • Maple syrup, honey, or other sweetener, optional
  1. sift the matcha into a mug or small bowl to get rid of any lumps.
  2. Pour in the 2 ounces boiling water. Using a matcha whisk or small regular whisk, whisk briskly from side to side until the matcha is fully dispersed and there is a foamy layer on top.
  3. Add the remaining 6 ounces boiling water or steamed milk and whisk again until foamy. Sweeten to taste, if desired.

United States: Pumpkin Spice Latte

The first pumpkin spice latte was developed by coffee giant Starbucks in 2003, but is easy to make for yourself at home, no matter where you are. Something about the pumpkin spice, clove aroma, and touch of sweetness is sure to warm you up and turn any frown upside down.

Recipe

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup hot espresso or strong brewed coffee
  1. Sweetened whipped cream, for serving
  2. Combine the milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla in a medium microwave safe bowl
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and vent with a small hole. Microwave until the milk is hot, 1 to 2 minutes.
  4.  Whisk vigorously until the milk mixture is foamy, about 30 seconds.
  5. Pour the espresso or coffee into a large mug and add the foamed milk. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.

Tibet: Po Cha

Tibet is another place where the winters require a strong cup of warmness to heat your freezing insides. Po cha is a Tibetan drink, also called butter tea. The tea is salty rather than sweet, and is ideal for those who want to try a simple recipe from abroad.

Recipe

  • 4 cups of water
  • Plain black tea (2 individual teabags, like Lipton’s black tea, or two heaping spoons of loose tea)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted)
  • 1/3 cup half and half or milk
  1. First bring four cups of water to a boil.
  2. Put two bags of tea or two heaping tablespoons of loose tea in the water and let steep while the water is boiling for a couple of minutes.
  3. Add a heaping quarter of a teaspoon of salt.
  4. Take out the tea bags or if you use loose tea, strain the tea grounds.
  5. Add a third to a half cup of milk or a teaspoon of milk powder.
  6. Pour your tea mixture, along with two tablespoons of butter, into a chandong, which is a kind of churn. Since churns are kind of rare outside of Tibet, you can do what some Tibetans do, which is to use any big container with a lid, so you can shake the tea, or you can just use a blender, which works very well.
  7. Churn, blend or shake the mixture for two or three minutes. The Tibetans think the po cha tastes better if you churn it longer.

Turin, Italy: Bicerin

We expect nothing less from Italy than another chocolate drink, but this time with classic Italian espresso. Bicerin is actually Piedmontese (an Italian dialect) for small glass, which is what the drink is served in. Bicerin has been popular since the 18th century, and, though it may be small, it packs an energizing punch.

Recipe

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 oz chopped bittersweet chocolate
  • Italian espresso

1.Warm milk in a medium-sized saucepan with chopped bittersweet or semisweet chocolate. Whisk the mixture until it begins to boil, then let it boil for 1 minute, whisking constantly (the chocolate mixture will foam up a bit.)

2. Afterward, remove it from the heat and set aside. Make a small pot of very strong coffee, or good Italian espresso.

3.Fill the bottom third of a clear, heat-proof glass with the warm chocolate mixture. Pour in some coffee or espresso. (If you want to help it create a definite layer, pour it over the back of a spoon, into the glass.)

4. Top with whipped cream.

Mexico: Champurrado

This thick Mexican beverage is delicious and chocolatey, perfect as a sweet treat after a fun day spent out in the cold. Champurrado is popular in Mexico during the Christmas season for obvious reasons. The recipe is slightly more involved, but is worth the effort.

Recipe

  • 8 cups of water
  • 5 oz. of piloncillo or ½ cup of sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 Mexican Chocolate tablets 6.5 ounces
  • ¾ cup of masa harina corn flour
  1. Place 6 cups of water in a large saucepan along with the piloncillo and the cinnamon stick.
  2. Heat water until it starts boiling and then reduce the heat and allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes until the piloncillo has melted.
  3. Once the piloncillo or sugar has dissolved, add the 2 Mexican Chocolate Tablets and allow about 5 minutes to dissolve, stirring from time to time.
